On Wednesday, October 15th, CPR, together with the San Diego County Dem. Party Media Committee will sponsor an historic DEBATE WATCHING PARTY at Trophys Restaurant in Mission Valley. This is the 3rd and final presidential debate, and is to be moderated by Bob Schieffer of CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

We have just learned that Stacy Taylor of AM1700 will be broadcasting his afternoon show live from our Party, making this his first Listener event since the demise of KLSD Progressive Radio some 18 months ago.

We’re inviting KLSD alums, AM1700 listeners, Barack Obama supporters, candidates, journalists, and progressives from all over the county to join us for conversation, food and drink before, during and after the debate. We’ll also have a live internet broadcast from Trophys, recording the reactions and opinions of the many attendees, courtesy of Walter Davis.

We have reserved the large enclosed patio at Trophys for the debate party but SEATING IS LIMITED. If you want to join our extravaganza, with 6 TVs on the patio all tuned into the debate, you must pre-register.

$20.00 gets you dinner (4 menu choices) and bottomless non-alcohol beverage, (includes tax and tip). There is a large, no-host bar next to the patio, and seating will also be available in the restaurant itself. This will be THE place to be in San Diego County on this historic night, especially with the Stacy Taylor Show being aired right up to the debate, interviewing local candidates and politicos right on the spot.

RSVP asap to reserve your spot on the patio: Sign up at www.actblue.com/page/DebateWatch. Questions? contact Martha Sullivan at marthasullivan@mac.com or 858 945-6273.

Trophys is located in Hazard Center, 7510 Hazard Center Dr., Suite 215, San Diego, CA 92108

The four menu choices are:

A POWERFUL EXAMINATION OF MODERN MEDIA AND ITS IMPACT ON OUR POLITICAL CULTURE

“A marvel of passionate succinctness, Robert Kane Pappas‘ documentary critically examines the Fourth Estate, once the bastion of American democracy. It asks, “Could a media system, controlled by a few global corporations with the ability to overwhelm all competing voices, be able to turn lies into truth?…” — Variety
The Film meticulously traces the process by which black may be turned into white, with frequent references totalitarian states both fictional and real –
Meticulously tracing the process by which media has distorted and often dismissed actual news events, Pappas presents a riveting and eloquent mix of media professionals and leading intellectual voices on the media.
ORWELL ROLLS IN HIS GRAVE provides a vital forum for ideas that will never be heard in mainstream media. From Globalvision’s Danny Schecter: “We falsely think of our country as a democracy when it has evolved into a mediacracy – where a media that is supposed to check political abuse is part of the political abuse.”

New York University media professor Mark Crispin Miller says, “These commercial entities now vie with the government for control over our lives. They are not a healthy counterweight to government. Goebbels said that what you want in a media system – he meant the Nazi media system – is to present the ostensible diversity that conceals an actual uniformity.”
